If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram , you saw a lot of merriment & joy this past Monday. I was invited to the White House to participate in a Holiday Social . What does this mean? I went on a great tour of the decorations in the morning & spent the afternoon hanging out with the Executive White House Pastry Chef (the guy that made this awesome thing ), the head florist & the awesome team behind Operation Joining Forces .
I’ve been lucky enough to see the holiday decorations at the White House for several years, both during the Obama & Bush Administrations, & it doesn’t matter what your politics are or who is sitting in the Oval Office, it’s a really cool experience.
East Wing entrance – where all tours start loved this little arrangement outside the East Wing entrance – looks like something out of Pottery Barn! as we were heading in for our tour Sunny, the newest member of the Obama family, was coming in from her morning walk when you first enter the East Wing, you’re greeted by a beautiful Christmas tree, filled with gold star ornaments. The Gold Star tree honors members of the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice. this beautiful archway separates the East Wing from the White House would you believe these beautiful decorations are pipe cleaners twisted & hot glued on red ribbon? the Library, one of my favorite rooms, all decorated beautiful bangles & balls filled the downstairs hallway George Washington standing guard over the East Room the magnificent Blue Room tree the 18′ Blue Room tree, which is cut just to touch the ceiling, was filled with photos of joyous military homecomings & drawings by military children from bases around the country this beautiful display in the Red Room features fresh flowers; however, the base is covered in gum paste flowers! They were absolutely amazing White House gingerbread house the wonderful view from the Green Room White House Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses the amazing cookies the White House Pastry Team made for us! That’s Bo on the left & Sunny on the right thanks for a memorable day!
