2016. What a year. This year kind of stunk, didn’t it? It feels like the world is a little off kilter these days, so I think it’s important to look back at the things that actually went well this year. Here are some of my (& your!) favorite moments of 2016.
This photo sharing app continues to me one of my favorite ways to share moments from our trips. Here are the Instagram posts that you enjoyed the most this year – clearly you’re all fans of shades of the color orange, Canada & the UK! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram to see photos you won’t see anywhere else.
All is calm, all is bright. After a whirlwind week, getting back into the swing of things, digging out from email & wrapping & shipping Christmas gifts, tonight we're going to have a few friends over to toast the holiday season. Wishing everyone a calm, peaceful Saturday night, wherever in the world you find yourself tonight.
I debated about continuing to post happy Christmas Market photos from our trip in light of yesterday's events in Berlin. But after thinking about it a bit, I decided that if I stop, they win. So post I shall & I hope others do too. Christmas markets are meant to be a place for family, friendship & festive spirit. So please go to the markets & travel – & be safe doing it. ❤️
Scrolling back through my Instagram feed, here are a few of my favorites which didn’t end up in the top nine:
What a beautiful, cold morning in Budapest! We spent a few hours exploring the Castle Complex in Buda. This is the view from the Fisherman's Bastion, looking across the Danube to Pest. Our tour this morning is one of the complimentary city tours included on our @vikingcruises itinerary. While some of it was spent on a coach bus (not my favorite way to travel), we had about two hours to explore on our own on foot – the perfect amount of time to stroll down back alleys, take in the view & enjoy a coffee & strudel. Now, we're off to meet up with our ship & sail up to Vienna. There should be some beautiful scenery on the river this afternoon.
This morning, I visited the Morgan Library for the first time. What an incredibly special place! JP Morgan had this magnificent building built to house his impressive collection of books & papers. There's even a vault off his study, which held his most rare & precious items. In addition to seeing the beautiful library, the museum often shows special exhibits. Today I saw a great show on Hemingway & a small exhibit on Matisse. What a hidden gem in NY!
