Remember that Will Smith song from the late 90’s, “Miami?”
Whenever I go to Miami, that song plays over & over in my head. Kind of obnoxious. Usually it’s okay, because we’re just in Miami for a quick flight layover on the way to Barbados, but last week I was in Miami for two & a half days – about 60 hours. Let me just tell you: 60 hours of a Will Smith soundtrack playing in your head is about 59 hours & 30 seconds too long. But I digress…
While in Miami last week to deal with some family health issues, I was able to sneak away for a few hours to South Beach. I had heard about their fantastic Art Deco district, but hadn’t ever gotten the chance to go see it in person. Wow, am I glad I made time for it! All the neon hotels stretched along Ocean Drive are really something to see. I was there mid-day, when the light was horrible & harsh & there was nothing good about the conditions for photography. So my goal next time is to head there during the golden hour, & then again at night to catch the real flavor of the neon.
Maybe I’ll run into Will Smith while I’m at it…
