Take a peak at the word cloud on the right hand side of my blog. It highlights the places I write most about: New York City. Barbados. Chicago. Canada.
I realized recently that there is one glaring omission. A place that sees over 15 million visitors a year. The seat of my nation’s government. The home to a lot of really cool monuments & museums (many of which are free!). It just so happens that this magical place is also where I call home.
Washington, D.C.
I have written precious few words about this amazing place since my blog launched a little over a year ago & that is a darn shame. So I’ve set out to change that. For the next few weeks, I’ll be letting you in on all the things that make D.C., & the area of Northern Virginia I live in, tick for those of us who work, live & love in this diverse city. Where to eat when you want to be fancy. Where to eat when you don’t. What to do that’s free & what to splurge on. Where the best french fries are (trust me, I have researched that one to death).
My hope is that these posts will not only help visitors see the “non-touristy” side of the city, but also remind me, & all DC-ers, why we fell in love with this city in the first place (since the crazy weather, delayed & broken Metro trains, work-a-holic nature of things here definitely brings me down sometimes).
I hope you enjoy the journey.
