No matter what brings me to the Big Apple, I always spend Sunday morning the same way: with a stroll through Central Park. Since I always stay south of the park, my walking path is usually the same: entering the park around 5th Avenue & W. 59th Street (maybe a little west), then a wander along the southern edge of The Pond (including a rest on my favorite bench). Then it’s up the Literary Walk (where I always stop to admire Jim Henson’s bench), to the Bethesda Fountain. If I’m running short on time, I’ll exit the park around 79th Street (there’s always a Mr. Softee truck there in the summer). But if I have more time, I’ll wander back south through the park, by the Conservatory Water, where children float toy boats, & back out by The Plaza Hotel. In the hussle & bussle of New York City, Central Park is a quiet pocket of harmony.
