Tomorrow we are headed to the city of Francophiles & Quebecois. The city of poutine & a gigantic underground mall. The city of basilicas & BYOB. Tomorrow we head to Montreal!
It’s almost embarrassing that we’ve never been there: it’s only a two hour flight from Washington, D.C. & the most European-feeling city that is readily accessible to the east coast of the U.S. So when we were brainstorming where to take our annual anniversary trip, & realized we couldn’t really afford to go to Paris, Montreal seemed like a natural second choice.
We’re staying at the (what we hope to be) fabulous Auberge du Vieux-Port & plan to spend our days wandering the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal. We have very few plans, other than dinner reservations at some lovely places, & like it that way. The weather is supposed to be fantastically autumnal & I can’t think of a better place to celebrate five years of wedded bliss.
Do you have any Montreal recommendations? A little cafe that serves an amazing chocolat chaud? A side street with the most perfect boutique? A museum that is perfect for a rainy afternoon? Let be know in the comments below!
