I’m very pleased to announce my very first blog giveaway!
I’m giving away some of my favorite DINK travel products just in time to hit the beach for summer vacation. I actually used all these products during our Memorial Day beach visit to Florida, therefore, I can 100% verify their awesome DINK-ness.
The winner will receive:
A DiCAPac waterproof case for your smartphone
I’ve been a DiCAPac addict for several years now. Every single kayaking photo that has ever appeared on this blog has been taken through my trusty DiCAPac waterproof case for my point & shoot camera. The smartphone case is perfect for a DINK day at the beach & even has enough room to store money or credit cards.
Karuna Borneo Multi-device Portable Charger
If you’re like me, you travel with a lot of devices that require a lot of charging. I feel like I’m constantly hunting down outlets to get a little juice into my device. Enter this portable charger. It’ll charge your iPhone from 0% battery to 100% battery in just two hours – not plugged in, meaning you’re not tethered to the wall.
A one-year subscription to AFAR Magazine
For a few months now, I’ve been working with AFAR as part of their AFAR Ambassador program. I’m so excited to be part of their online team, sharing Highlights from past travels & Wanderlists for future travels. I think AFAR is the perfect beach reading magazine, because it’s a great combination of short pieces & trip ideas, mixed with long-form pieces.
Starbucks iced coffee (okay, not really actual coffee, but a $5 gift card to buy coffee)
I’m totally addicted to Starbucks’ new iced coffee bottled drinks. Not only is it coffee (a win), in a portable device (another win), but (at least in the DC area) it’s actually cheaper than buying a grande iced coffee. Seems like a win, win, win to me!
(last minute addition to the giveaway!) SwaggerTag
I love the idea of a personalized luggage tag! While all the tags on SwaggerTag‘s website are definitely family focused, I think this is a great DINK product. Wouldn’t it be great to see the beautiful sunset shot you took on your last beach vacation every time you grabbed your bag from the overhead?

Going to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. Spending the day shopping or laying on the warm hot sand was how I spend my wonderful trip. I climbed Diamond Head and took in the breath taking view.

A perfect vacation for me is relaxing on the beaches of Tel Aviv, eating the gorgeous Mediterranean produce from the shuk (watermelon and salty white cheese!), drinking wine and watching the sunset on the sand, then heading out for the night. Day trips to go hiking, exploring the different villages and cities, eating all of the middle eastern foods, and soaking up the different cultures–ideal!

What an amazing giveaway! I may not be a DINK, but I’m a SINK (Single Income No Kids) and all of the prizes look fantastic.
My ultimate summer vacation?! Oh, that’s a hard one. I think an extended stay on a Greek island would be amazing! Wake up late, stroll into town for some extra strong Greek coffee, before heading to the beach to work on my tan and swim in the water. Dinners would be taken in a local restaurant, and I’d have my fill of feta, grilled meats and veggies and wine. Lots of wine.
I also follow you on the other 3 platforms. :) :)

A perfect vacation for me is sitting on a beach in RI while drinking a Del’s lemonade and then later going to a fried food shack, Iggy’s, to eat clam cakes and chowder.

Hey Christina!
Ultimate summer getaway? Tough to pick just one, but I’m thinking Italy. Roman ruins, gelato, authentic pizza and strolls among gape vines and seashores. Beautiful people, fabulous shoes and an elegant, seductive language. And of course, gorgeous Italian men flirting with a fellow SINK. :)
Hope you’re well! Great giveaway, very exciting!
Big hug from Chicago!

I wondered what that Starbux bottle was doing on your desk, Christina! This is a fun contest. We dinks love our summer getaways: Boothbay Harbor for lobsta; Martha’s Vineyard for lobsta; England four years in a row because we had friends living there and we used their house as a jumping off point to see Paris; Scotland; Wales; and Italy; and at least a dozen times to Block Island, RI, where we reach the ultimate relaxation just by taking the ferry and leaving our worries on the mainland. Hard to choose which was best. Thanks for the memories!

The trip my wife and I took two years ago to Belize was perfect, but I hope the one we’re planning for this August-September (Paris for our anniversary, then on to Switzerland and Italy) will be even better than that.

My dream trip will be realized when my husband and I can finally coordinate with our dearest friend to take our long-planned trip to Ireland. We;re getting close: four college graduations and one wedding down. Maybe next summer?

We’re thinking of a cruise around southern Europe!

This is an interesting topic for me as summer isn’t really our vacation season. Most of our major trips tend to be in the spring or fall. So I don’t have an actual experience to share. But I think I’d have to say that the ultimate summer vacation would be a beach getaway on a private island in a hurricane-free zone. Then again I’d go for that kind of vacation any time of the year!

Last summer we visited Rome, Italy! That was definitely an ideal summer vacation. We were there for two weeks so we had plenty of time to explore all the sites! :)

I don’t like to think about ultimate trips because then I feel like I’m leaving something off. I’ll just post what we’re thinking of for the next year. And we are DIWK, but these trips would probably not include him. We’re floating the idea of a trip in October to the Greek Islands because I hear it’s less crowded and very affordable in the fall. We’ve also had a visit to Santa Fe on our list for years, it just keeps getting bumped. We’ve also thought about spending a week visiting B&Bs in New England. Living in the South escaping the heat in New England would be fabulous. Having a child in school now we do have to now think about school vacations for travel. We’re going to Florida next week for a beach getaway. It’s needed. October trips are doable because he gets a one-week fall break and can spend it at grandma’s while we travel.

Love the DINK giveaway package. I’ve liked you on FB and I follow you on Twitter.
Ultimate summer vacation: my husband taking a break from work, the two of us renting an RV (and learning to drive it) and a road trip across the country with only a partial schedule so we can be flexible when and where we stop.

My dream vacation would be going back to Bulgaria, finding a lovely tourist free village and eating in wonderful sea front restaurants.

My ultimate summer vacation would be in Namibia visiting a friend and volunteering with cheetahs. I’m a fb friend (Mari Doug)

My husband and I don’t usually get time off over the summer (his work schedule doesn’t generally allow it), but each September we try to get away for our wedding anniversary. We’ve celebrated with trips to the family beach house in North Carolina (very relaxing), a getaway to Frenchtown in St. Thomas (get the French toast at Frenchtown Deli and thank me later), and spent our five-year anniversary driving Tuscany’s famed Chianti Road.
Wherever our “summer” vacation takes us, we’re together. That’s the best part.

Oooh! Great prizes!
Well, I lived in Europe for 4 years, so I’ve already taken some pretty incredible summer vacations. Though there are many places I’ve missed. I would say Antalya, Turkey, soaking up the sun on the Turkish Riviera and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Plus, I have a friend who lives there who is an amazing photographer and loves to take people exploring around the city.
I follow you on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I’m prosodic at all three.

My dream vacation would be to spend a few weeks going on a cross country road trip with my fiancé. We love road trips and it seems like driving from NC to California would be the ultimate vacation for us. All along the trip I would plan activities and place to stop so we could truly get a full cross country experience.

My ultimate summer vacation was a week spent in Switzerland with my mom. We used the trains to get everywhere (it *is* Switzerland, after all) and had time to actually see and experience the country, not just breeze through Zurich. The best part was that it was nice and cool. Having spent most of my life in Texas, nice and cool is what I dream of for a summer vacation.
Already following you on Twitter and Facebook. Twitter is @lisalmiller.
