We’re back from our annual Labor Day getaway to the Finger Lakes & I think I’ve somehow fallen further in love with this picturesque, incredibly chill region of upstate New York. Our jaunt up to Seneca Lake came right at the perfect time – we really needed a break.
We stayed in a lake house on the eastern shore of the lake (a must for picture perfect sunsets!), about 20 minutes north of Watkins Glen in the same neighborhood as last year. It was way more house than we needed, but it was nice to have space to spread out & stay at a place that was more house than cabin.
We rented kayaks, which were delivered right to our house, & kayaked almost every day. Normally busy, choppy Seneca Lake definitely corporated with our kayaking plans.
We also found our new favorite hiking place ever: Robert J. Terman State Park. The 5 mile gorge hike was amazing. The only thing we’ll do differently next year is bring our bathing suits to take a dip in their ol’ fashioned swimming hole.
It was during our hike that I had a bucket list travel experience: standing at the base of a raging waterfall!
We visited a few new wineries & breweries, which I’ll share in a separate post, along with visiting our old favorites.
And, of course, every night we had amazing sunsets, campfires & s’mores.
It’s official: I’m addicted to my Labor Day travel tradition!
